In Grainau, more than 100 km of gently rising and alpine hiking paths make the mountainous surroundings of the Zugspitz village accessible and offer delightful relaxation in a fantastic scenery and in a wonderful area of unspoiled nature.

Snow shoe hiking - a "new" winter enjoyment! What is very old and brings you close to nature? It's the snow shoe, the most simple means of locomotion in a snowed in landscape! And best thing is: anyone can do it. The offer for walking and hiking paths is extensive and full of adventure, as over 40 km of them are cleared. You will reach nature's beauties on mostly even or gently inclining paths.
Other winter pleasures: skating, cross country tracks free of charge, curling, toboggan run, horse sleigh rides and many more.

The Zugpitze – the peak the glacier
What a feeling – moving up farther and farther with the cog wheel train or the Eibsee cable car you can be sure that Germany's highest skiing region will leave nothing to be desired. Germany's unique glacier skiing region awaits visitors with the best of snow from November until May as well as excellent ski-runs with all degrees of difficulty at an elevation of 2,000 to 2,720m. 8 ski lifts and a new 6-seater chair lift with an hourly conveyor capacity of 11,640 winter athletes ensures true skiing pleasure. With the glacier sun and a view over four countries, skiing here means adventure. For powder snow fans, the Zugspitzplatt offers a number of untouched slops. But skiing isn't everything – a stop at one of the numerous restaurants is a must!
The classic skiing region
Alpspitze, Kreuzeck, Hausberg Everyone will find what they prefer here: from the beginner to the pro. In the classic region, a total of 4 cable cars, 4 chair lifts and 11 t-bar lifts make elevations of 700 – 2050 m with almost 40 kilometers of ski-runs and practice slops with all degrees of difficulty accessible. Many cottages and mountain guesthouses invite the visitor to stop and stay.
